As my first blog, I would like to start with the WHY. Why landscape photography? What is it about it that makes me excited over the other genres of photography?
When I am out in the nature, I am disconnected from myself and my daily routines. It feels like I am breathing the air for the first time, I wow, what nature provides us, I want to document what I see, well not any more. You may ask why?
I am getting away from documentary landscape photography, or at least I am trying to. (Sometimes it is hard, the landscape or sky is so beautiful that you just want to take a picture of it) I would rather create an art piece, than just documenting the reality in front of me.
That eager and hunger for creating an art piece is what makes me excited. One can argue that, this can be achieved in any other genres of photography or any form of art for that matter, and that is true, but for me, it is becoming exciting when it combines with some sort of adventure and when I am out in the nature. So the answer to that WHY is to get inspired by nature, get excited to be free in the world in its pure appearance and be creative, and then share that moment of happiness with the rest of the world. Yes sharing with all of you is very important to me. I would love to make the world a little bit of a better place to live for everyone, despites all craziness that happen around us every day. I believe landscape photography has a great role in maintaining the hope in us. And that’s what I want my photos to convey.
When it comes to spreading positive energy and improving the quality of people’s lives by sharing a moment of peace with the rest of the world, I think landscape photography is more important than ever was in the history. There are other benefits to landscape photography as well like to preserve the nature and increase the general awareness about the changes that we as a single species are doing to our planet. But that is another topic for a future article.
So, Is this excitement and fulfillness happening every time I go out to take pictures, you may ask? Of course not, there are times that I feel I am not excited or I am not creative or even worse, I cannot find the nature the way I wanted it to present itself to me, and because of that I loose my excitement and/or creativity.
If you are reading this blog, it means you are interested in landscape and nature as well, or maybe you also do some sort of photography (perhaps even landscape photography? ) If that is the case, what is your why? What makes you excited to go out and take pictures? I would love to hear that in the comment section.
