You don’t need to be worried about finding the best location and optimal conditions, we will take care of that, you just need to express your interest and show up when next Northern lights occurs!


A night packed with photography and nature experiences for any skill levels. 

For those of you who loves nature, specifically the Northern light (AKA Aurora Borealis) and also wants to improve your photography skills for night and Astrophotography, this is your chance.
Not only to make amazing photos and improve your photography, but also to connect with nature and take a distance from daily routines. Immerse yourself  in a mini adventure by focusing on night, seascape and most amazing nature phenomenon, Aurora.

No matter if you are a beginner or a seasoned photographer or just a nature and photo enthusiast, there is something here for everyone.

Location:

We will go to the East coast of Sweden, The exact location will be decided by the guide based on the weather conditions and possibilities. But it is usually either Grisslehamn or Rödhäll. We will inform you about the location before we go on this trip.

Workshop’s plan:

This is a one night landscape photography workshop with the focus on personal and photography development and re-connection to the nature.

We will meet at a pre-agreed location in Uppsala and will drive to the east coast, which is about one and half hour journey.

We’ll start with a little talk about techniques you can practice at night and how to find compositions and how to photograph Aurora. There are a lot of opportunities and different compositions to practice here.

You will learn more about Astrophotography, focus techniques for night photography and general compositions techniques.

How to photograph Aroura (Northern light) with the best and optimal camera settings based on the strenght of Auror, its speed and the moon phase!

When the display is over, we will return to Uppsala . A few days after the trip, we will meet online via Zoom to discuss our photos and some critiques. 

Safety and difficulty:
This is an easy trip, No hiking involved. Maximum distance from the location to the car parks, is about 10 to 20 minutes walk on easy trails. However, we will spend the majority of our time exploring on big and small rocks in the darkness and you should take extra causation as rocks can be extremely slippery next to the sea. We recommend wearing hiking boots to avoid twisted ankles. Also bringing a hiking pole is highly recommended.
You and only you are responsible for your own safety and the safety of your equipments. 

What is included:

  • Transports from Uppsala to the locations and return to pick up point. (Pick up point in Uppsala will be announced before the trip)

  • Visiting the best locations on the east coast, with lowest light polution and maximum photogenic scenes.

  • Instructions by an experienced photography guide

  • Learning how to compose and take pictures at night

  • Learning how to focus at night and darkness

  • Zoom call after the trip to discuss and evaluate your best pictures of the trip

What is NOT included:

  • dinner, drinks, snacks

  • Travel insurance

  • Equipment insurance

  • Flights or any transportation expenses to and from pick up point

  • Hotel before/after the workshop 

  • Anything beyond what mentioned in “what is included”

Recommended Gear:

  • Camera (Mirrorless or DSLR)

  • A wide-angle lens (16-35mm) with wide aperture if possible

  • A standard zoom lens (24-70mm) but not required.

  • Tripod (extremely required)

  • remote shutter release (good to have  but not essential)

  • Head torch (extremely required for moving in total darkness, but be mindful of fellow photographers and don’t spill light on their scene)

  • Spare batteries and SD cards (batteries die faster in cold)

  • Camera bag 

Recommended Clothing and gears:

  • Hiking boots (the ones that cover your ankle! - Extremely important for walking on the rocks)

  • Waterproof & windproof jacket & pants it can be windy and wet by the sea

  • dress in layers for maximum confort

  • Hiking poles (to keep your balance on the rocks, highly recommended)

  • Gloves and hat

  • Something soft to seat on

  • Snaks and water

Please note that There is no guarantee in seeing aurora even with a strong prediction

To register your interest in this trip, fill in and submit this form below. Since this is a short notice activity, not like other workshops, we cannot fix a date, thus you will not pay until we see a good chance of Aurora activity and a clear sky. Only then you will be informed by SMS and/or email. If you agree to join you will be informed about the location, meetup point and you will receive a confirmation email including an invoice that must be paid ASAP and no later than 10 days after receiving it. Below the form, you can read all the applicable terms and conditions. (Including payment and cancellation terms). According to the current terms and conditions, your expression of interest becomes binding when we have confirmed your reserved spot in writing via e-mail with invoice attachment. The Right of withdrawal does not apply to this package. However, you don’t have to agree to join on the specific event if the timing is not right for you. You are always welcome to can join in another time when Aurora accurs again!

Terms:

  • By attending this workshop, you agree to hold Hamed Bank harmless for all personal injury or loss that may occur during or in connection with this trip. This is a self-led travel trip. As a customer, you are responsible for your own equipment that you have brought to a workshop or course. You are also responsible for arriving on time to pre-agreed pick up points and other meeting times. Hamed Bank is not responsible for any damage that may occur to your equipment. This also applies to other personal property that you bring to the course or workshop.

    For some destinations, a valid passport and any visas and Covid Pass etc, may be required. Always make sure you have valid documents on hand as well as the documents required for entry. For example, several countries require your passport to have more than 180 days of validity remaining in order to be accepted.

    For the trip, the general terms and conditions drawn up by the Swedish Travel Agency and Organizers Association and the special terms and conditions of the organizer, which are stated below, apply.

  • The agreement becomes binding for the parties when the organizer has confirmed in writing the traveler's declaration of interest. For this particular workshop, it is when we see a good chance of seeing Aurora, we will contact you and if you agree to join we will send the confirmation letter.

  • You don’t pay anything until the trip has been confirmed. You will receive a notification via email or SMS and if you agree to join, you will receive a confirmation email with an invoice attached to it. The organizer charges 100% of the trip price. The full amount must be paid against invoice ASAP and no later than ten days after received. .

  • Since it is a short notice workshop, You won’t pay until we confirm the trip. Therefore, no cancellation can be made after you received your confirmation in writing.
    However, you are welcome to cancel your interest in the future workshops of this series by writing an email to us, and we will remove you from receiving further notifications.

    The organizer (Hamed Bank) reserves the right to cancel the trip in case of not enough participant and/or no sufficient conditions. In the event of cancellation, purchases made by the traveler in connection with the trip are not reimbursed, e.g. plane tickets. Travelers are always advised to purchase cancellable flight tickets or cancellation protection.

  • For each trip, a minimum number of people are required for the trip to be completed. The minimum number appears in the travel description for each trip. The organizer reserves the right to cancel the trip if the minimum number is not reached. Travelers who have booked a trip have the right to a refund of what was paid for the trip. The organizer is not responsible for any purchases made by the traveler in connection with the trip, e.g. Booked flight tickets. Travelers are therefore advised to always book a cancellable flight ticket or cancellation protection.

  • The organizer reserves the right to cancel the trip, if the trip cannot be completed due to another reason beyond the organizer's control, e.g. acute illness of tour leader/guide. Travelers who have booked a trip have the right to a refund of what has been paid. The organizer is not responsible for any purchases made by the traveler in connection with the trip, e.g. booked flight tickets. Travelers are therefore advised to always book a cancellable flight ticket or cancellation protection.

  • The organizer arranges photography trips, which means that trips usually include hiking in different types of land and environments. The traveler is responsible for ensuring that he/she is in good condition and health so that he/she can participate in the various stages of the trip.

  • This tour is designed to provide an opportunity to view the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). However, the Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon and its visibility cannot be guaranteed.

    Hamed Bank shall not be held liable for the following:

    1. The absence or limited visibility of the Aurora Borealis on the tour date.

    2. Any disappointment or dissatisfaction arising from the inability to view the Aurora Borealis.

    3. Due to the unpredictable nature of the Aurora Borealis, Hamed Bank will not be obligated to provide refunds in the event of its absence or limited visibility.
